The Role

Responsible for the health and safety functions for the SCE Group, the coordinator will ensure that the company meet the highest quality standards and exceed legal requirements.

 

Duties of the Role

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Drive and improve Health & Safety standards across the company meeting ISO45001 standards

  • Implement and maintain processes for identifying and controlling risks to health and safety both internal and external to the business

  • Ensuring that all SCE group properties meet health and safety standards and legal requirements in conjunction with the Fleet & Facilities Coordinator

  • Attend site visits/audits where required

  • Carry out workshop inspections to ensure a safe working environment is maintained

  • Facilitate all forms of risk assessment and act as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site

  • Lead investigations into incidents (including major incidents), accidents, near misses and non-conformance ensuring that all documentation is completed, and systems are updated.  Provide advice on root causation, best preventative measures and share lessons learned

  • Ensure the timely reporting of any relevant incidents under RIDDOR

  • Keep abreast of corporate, regulatory and legislative changes and advise management of the implications for the business

  • Support to the HR & Training Coordinator with inductions

  • Co-ordinate H&S related training and employee wellbeing issues including occupational health and industrial disease

  • Arrange and oversee external Health and Safety audits for all BXH branches, SCE Engineers and clients

  • Actively promote the health and safety strategies to drive a tangible improvement in safety performance and culture

 

Skills Required

Essential

  • NEBOSH National and General Certification
  • Full clean UK driving licence.

Experience

  • Fair experience in a general H&S role within a similar engineering industry
  • Experience of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, site inspections and investigations
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 9001

  • Effective leadership and motivational skills.
